DFW Hindu Temple

DFW Hindu Temple is the oldest and most established Hindu temple in North Texas. It has been around for over 30 years and currently houses two temples and a Kumbh Mela event. Its goal is to be a spiritual resource center where people can get information about Hinduism, find out about upcoming events, or meet people who share their beliefs. Navigate here.

The DFW Hindu Temple was established by members of the local South Asian community in 1982 as a place of worship for those living in North Texas. It started with a single room in a small house and has grown to include an average of 10 weekly services.

“The Hindu temple is one of the most elaborate temples in the area,” says Dr. Deepak Gupta, president of the temple. “While we do not have as many volunteers and donations as other temples, we still get more than we need.”

The Mandir and Bhajan Hall have been built with generous donations from local members and those from all over the state to worship there. These two sacred places are open to anyone who has a desire to worship and wants to learn more about Hinduism.

One of the most popular services is the Friday evening youth bhajans. Children and teenagers come together at 7 p.m. every Friday and sing devotional songs in Hindi/Sanskrit, followed by a short prayer service in English. Useful reference.

“We have children as young as 5 years old attending these events,” says Arun Sheth, temple priest at DFW Hindu Temple. “They come and participate, learn the language and sing some of the songs. We have a lot of fun and it’s amazing how fast they pick it up.”

The temple conducts monthly Bhajan Nights, a series of bhajans that celebrate eminent gurus’ birthdays, arranged by Dr. Gupta. These events happen in March and December when many people come to celebrate the birthday of their respective gurus.

“We also have monthly services in the Bhajan Hall with Kumari, a full-time devotional singer,” says Sheth. “In addition to learning about Hinduism, people can take advantage of the time our singer offers for classes on yoga and meditation.”

The DFW Hindu Temple provides a home for members of the local Hindu community and visitors worldwide. They are consistent in improving their services and building strong relationships with community members.

“We are always looking for volunteers and donations to help us improve our temple,” says Gupta. “It’s a great way to promote Hinduism in North Texas and give back to the community.”

The Hindu Temple is located at 200 Bedford Road, Bedford, TX 76021. For more information, call 954-393-8656 or visit www.dfwhindutemple.org.
